Phoenix Health and Safety offers a Forklift Training School Program that is designed to ensure that operators can safely and efficiently use forklifts and other types of lift trucks. Our courses are designed according to Guideline for the safe operation and maintenance of powered lift trucks | ontario.ca guidelines. Here’s an overview of what typically encompasses forklift training:
Training Components
Theoretical Training:
- Safety Regulations: Understanding OHSA standards and other regulatory requirements.
- Equipment Knowledge: Familiarity with different types of forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, reach trucks, Powered Walkie) and their specific functions.
- Operational Procedures: Safe operating practices, load handling, stability principles, and hazard identification.
Practical Training:
- Vehicle Operation: Hands-on practice with driving, maneuvering, and controlling the forklift.
- Load Handling: Techniques for lifting, moving, and stacking loads safely.
- Emergency Procedures: Handling emergencies and operating forklifts safely in various situations.
Evaluation and Certification:
- Written Test: To assess theoretical knowledge.
- Practical Test: To evaluate hands-on skills and competency in operating the forklift.
Refresher Training
- Periodic refresher courses may be required to keep skills updated and address any changes in regulations or operational procedures.
Participant will be provided with a digital certificate of completion which can be printed as well as a plastic wallet certificate.
Forklift certificates are valid for three (3) years.

Counter Balance
Overview:
A Counterbalance forklift is the most common type of forklift. It gets its name because it has a heavy weight on the back that offsets the weight of the load it is carrying. It can be used for loading/unloading , racking slots or accommodates attachments.

Powered Walkie
Overview:
A Powered Walkie is a versatile and essential piece of equipment used in warehouses, distribution centers, and other environments for moving palletized loads. The Powered Walkie is generally moved by a throttle on the handle to move forward or in reverse and steered by swinging the handle in the intended direction. Phoenix Health and Safety Consulting Services provides you with the essential theory and practical training so that users can make safe and proper use of Powered Walkie. It can be used to lift or movement of single pallets or removing palletized freight from trailers.

Narrow Aisle and Reach Forklifts
Overview:
A narrow aisle reach truck is a type of forklift designed specifically for use in tight spaces and high storage areas. The mast extends upward to reach high shelves that is why its considered as a specialized types of forklifts used in warehouses and distribution centers. The wheels are located below the operator, which helps create a tighter turn radius. This allows operators to navigate smaller spaces, and still be able to reach higher racking. It can move up to 4500lbs.

Order Picker
Overview:
An order picker forklift is a piece of equipment used to help operators pick and deliver materials needed for filling out orders.
